چکیده

It is demonstrated how the right hand sides of the Lorentz Transformation equations may be written, in a Lorentz invariant manner, as 4–vector scalar products. This implies the existence of invariant length intervals analagous to invariant proper time intervals. This formalism, making essential use of the 4-vector electromagnetic potential concept, provides a short derivation of the Lorentz force law of classical electrodynamics, the conventional definition of the magnetic field, in terms of spatial derivatives of the 4–vector potential and the Faraday-Lenz Law. An important distinction between the physical meanings of the space-time and energy-momentum 4–vectors is pointed out.

From the Lorentz Transformation Group in Pseudo-Euclidean Spaces to Bi-gyrogroups

‎The Lorentz transformation of order $(m=1,n)$‎, ‎$ninNb$‎, ‎is the well-known ‎Lorentz transformation of special relativity theory‎. ‎It is a transformation of time-space coordinates of the ‎pseudo-Euclidean space $Rb^{m=1,n}$ of one time dimension and ‎$n$ space dimensions ($n=3$ in physical applications)‎. ‎A Lorentz transformation without rotations is called a {it boost}‎. ‎Commonly‎, ‎the ...

Hidden in Plain View: The Material Invariance of Maxwell-Hertz-Lorentz Electrodynamics

Maxwell accounted for the apparent elastic behavior of the electromagnetic field through augmenting Ampere’s law by the so-called displacement current much in the same way that he treated the viscoelasticity of gases. Original Maxwell constitutive relations for both electrodynamics and fluid dynamics were not material invariant, while combining Faraday’s law and the Lorentz force makes the firs...

Inter-charge forces in relativistic classical electrodynamics: electromagnetic induction in different reference frames

The force due to electromagnetic induction on a test charge is calculated in different reference frames. The Faraday-Lenz Law and different formulae for the fields of a uniformly moving charge are used. The classical Heaviside formula for the electric field of a moving charge predicts that the inductive force vanishes in the frame in which the magnet is in motion and the test charge at rest. In...

Relativistic Formulation of Maxwell’s Equations for Free Space

Einstein assumed in his Special Theory of Relativity that Maxwell’s equations, including Faraday’s law and the AmpereMaxwell equation, were invariant in any inertial frame, and that the Lorentz transformation equations must be used when two inertial frames were in relative motion. Starting with a modification of the Ampere-Maxwell equation that allows for two observers of the magnetic field in ...
